Our Little Virginia was born at 25weeks 0 days on October 22, 2011 weighing 1 pound and 7 ounces. Some might think that having a micropreemie would be a parents worst nightmare, but for us we felt so lucky and blessed that she was born and had a fighting chance (and ohh what a fight it was). For a month we prayed and hoped that our baby would hang on. After a week of bedrest at home and 3 weeks of hospital bedrest, preterm labor and an incompetent cervix could no longer be contained. Virginia was born by emergency cesarean section at 11:11am on a beautiful fall day. This blog chronicles Virginia's amazing fight during her 124 day NICU stay, our adventures as first time parents, and our family as we raise Virginia and she proves that her early birth will not define her but will make her stronger.
