Happy Girl

Virginia has had a great week. She has gotten to spend alot of time with her Moma (my mom), she visited her nurses at the newborn special care unit, she has been exploring new toys and is fitting into a whole new wardrobe of 0-3 month clothes.

Virginia had her first appointment with the physical therapist from the birth to three program this week where we learned several exercises to work into our daily routine to help Ginny with have better head control, prepare her to start rolling over and improve her overall strength and tone. We are also so very lucky to also have the expertise of my Mom as a Pediatric Physical Therapist, so we are very hopeful that Virginia will be surpassing all of our goals for her development. We also had our last visit with her visiting nurse. Virginia weighs over 9 pounds now, so there is no longer a need for the weekly weight checks and nurse assessments. Lastly, Virginia had another eye exam yesterday. She has been followed for 3 months now for Retinopathy of Prematurity, which is a very common condition where the normal growth of the retinal vessels is interrupted because of prematurity and less so because of oxygen therapy. Virginia's vessels have improved greatly since her last exam, but there is still a small area that needs to be rechecked in another month. After her exam we got lunch at our favorite food truck outside of the hospital and then visited with some of our favorite nurses and doctors from the NBSCU.
